The model was Marie Hayes who appears in the scenes of married life, notably ennui with Hubby, a friend from Sickert’s childhoods whom he employed for a period from 1911.
The only known drawing in the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery identifies the location as Harrington Square, Camden Town. Sickert lived there in 1911
