Helen and Colin David

Helen and Colin David are a husband and wife artistic duo that have been collaborating for over fifteen years. Their work is known originally for their fashion/textile label, English Eccentrics, they now practice primarily as artists, working in a variety of media, but always including work on textiles.

Helen & Colin David are British artists working in London with a keen interest in both local and global culture, traveling widely for their research. They are also passionately interested in selected good causes, some local, some international, some focused on the arts and education and some about human rights, in particular those of women.

In 1983, having completed B.A. degree in fashion textiles at Camberwell School of Art, and post graduate studies at Central St. Martins, Helen founded the highly thought of fashion label English Eccentrics with her sister Judy Purbeck and their friend Claire Angel. When Colin became Managing Director in 1987, Helen refocused as Creative Director, and their combined talents allowed the company to grow.

Colin studied Social Sciences at University in London, but also went to Paris to learn French Language at the Sorbonne as well as printmaking. He has worked as mentor to several charities, and continues to be very involved in the charitable sector.

In 2005 Colin and Helen both studied fine art printmaking at the Royal College of Art.

Presently Helen & Colin pursue their individual practice as fine artists, and work collaboratively on the ongoing Living Quarters project.

They maintain the English Eccentrics label, developing unique and limited edition textile pieces.
