Eileen Rosemary Mayo was born in Norwich 11 September 1906.She studied at the Slade , Central School of Art,Studied at Paris under Ferdinand Leger.Studied at the Grosvenor School under Claude Flight .Worked as a Artist's Model.She taught at St.Martins School of Art. In 1936 she married Dr.Richard Gainsborough.In 1952 after separating from her husband she emigrated to Australia. and to New New Zealand in 1962.Created a D.B.E.in 1994
